CONSERVATORY OF KAZAN
(Tatarstan, Russia)



The main musical educational institution of Tatarstan ‘s is the Conservatoire of Kazan, opened in 1945. Its founders were graduates from the Moscow and Leningrad conservatories, but the first rector was the well-known composer Nazib Zhiganov. Now the Professor Rubin Abdulin, who earlier opened the now famous organ class, occupies this post.

Nowadays Kazan Conservatory is one of the leading musical educational institutions in Russia. Among the specialities being taught are piano, organ, strings, wind, percussion, and traditional instruments. All of them are taught to foreign students and post-graduates. The conservatory also runs various concert activities.
