Sofia Heidi Almanza Saavedra was born in Panama City in 1984 and began learning music at the age of 10 at the National Institute of Music. She has studied bassoon and saxophone since she was 12 years old. In 1999–2000, she was a participant in various junior summer competitions organized by INAC.

She has performed in the National symphony orchestra of Panama, Orchestra of the Republic, Panama University orchestra and in the US Kansas City orchestra.
