Born in Leningrad, he graduated from the Conservatoire
in 1974, then from special course. He was
one of the last pupils of the outstanding Soviet pedagogue
and pianist, Professor Pavel Serebriakov.
From an early age he has been active as performer
in Russia and abroad. His vast repertoire includes
classics, especially the works of Liszt, Beethoven,
Schumann and Tchaikovsky. He has recorded the last
works of Beethoven, two Liszt concerti, rarely performed
“Caprice Russe” by Anton Rubinstein. In addition to this
he has produced an educational work, which includes
the Etudes of Chopin op. 25 with pedagogical comments.
He has been involved in pedagogical activity since 1977. His students
are prize-winners of various piano competitions.
