The Saint Petersburg Conservatoire Students Symphony Orchestra was
recreated in 2004 after a long interruption in order to provide orchestral
practice for students. The orchestra is made up mostly of first-year students in
the orchestra department, and provides a place where the students can perfect
their skills under the direction of well-known conductors. In the short time since
its reinstitution, the orchestra has
prepared a few interesting and
conscientious programs with the
participation of conductors such
as Vasily Sinaisky, Alexander
Titov, Alexander Sladkovsky,
and Alim Shakhmametev. The
Students Orchestra has enjoyed
success at various music festivals
and accompanied Lucciano
Pavarotti in his Saint Petersburg
concerts.
